What would it be like to experience an alien invasion?
Many scientists or the general public affirm that sooner or later we will make contact with some extraterrestrial civilization. The issue is to ask, if they come to visit us, for what purpose do they do so. Because it could happen that your world has collapsed due to depletion of resources, wars or other catastrophes. In that case they would launch into space to colonize another planet or take its resources. And we will be in the middle. And in case they come with bad intentions, they could do everything possible to eliminate us without disturbing the Earth and its valuable resources. So perhaps the first thing they would do would be to disable our nuclear weapons and directly attack military bases. In short, the speculations are endless. Also, of course, there could be benign civilizations, but perhaps more likely, as H. W. Hawking thinks, they will be as we were in the past.

Muchos científicos o público en general afirman que tarde o temprano haremos contacto con alguna civilización extraterrestre. El tema es preguntarse, si ellos vienen a visitarnos, con qué fines lo hacen. Porque podría ocurrir que su mundo hubiese colapsado por agotamiento de recursos, por guerras u otras catástrofes. En ese caso se lanzarían al espacio a colonizar otro planeta o a llevarse sus recursos. Y nosotros estaremos en medio. Y en caso de que vengan con malas intenciones podrían hacer todo lo posible por eliminarnos sin alterar la Tierra y sus valiosos recursos. De manera que quizás lo primero que harían sería desactivar nuestro armamento nuclear y atacar directamente las bases militares. En fin, las especulaciones son infinitas. También, claro está, podría haber civilizaciones benignas, pero quizás lo más probable, como opina H. W. Hawking, es que sean como lo fuimos nosotros en el pasado.
